To help beginners build their own mining rig from scratch and begin mining crypto, Make Crypto Mining team has put together a list of mining hardware components and the essential instructions.
Building a crypto mining rig, such as one for mining crypto , takes the right tools, mining software, and plenty of patience, unless you intend on employing a ready-made solution.
Let’s start with the parts:
1) MOTHERBOARD
A motherboard is necessary for a mining rig just like it is for a desktop computer. In this scenario, the motherboard of choice must be capable of scaling and supporting the appropriate amount of GPUs intended for mining. Examples of this Prime ASUS Prime Z390-A Motherboard LGA1151.
2) CPU
As an alternative, crypto mining can be done with merely a central processing unit (CPU), but in that case, the CPU must be of a high caliber. Having said that, a decent CPU, likeIntel® Core™ i5-9400F Desktop Processor 6 Cores 4.1 GHz Turbo Without Graphics
3)RAM
RAM, or random access memory, is crucial for a mining machine since it saves data momentarily while it is operating. Patriot Viper Elite II DDR4 8GB(1 x 8GB) 2666MHz Single Memory Module is one of the options because the mining rig needs to have enough RAM to account for all the data used by the GPUs.
4) GPUs
The most important part of any mining rig is its GPUs, and how many there are depends on the required hash rate. A novice could get by with the MSI Gaming GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 8GB GDRR5 256.
5) Data storage
Depending on how much mining you plan to do, you’ll need a hard drive or SSD with a minimum capacity of 240GB, such as the SAMSUNG 870 EVO SATA SSD 250GB 2.5“.
6) PSU
A power supply unit (PSU) with a 1200w platinum rating is required to power a mining rig because it can support the other components of the mining rig. Examples of such PSUs include Straight Power 11 Platinum 1200W, BN645, fully modular, power supply
7) Mining Rig Frame

8) Other accessories
- A USB riser to raise the GPU off the motherboard
- an internet connection (Ethernet cable or Wi-Fi adapter)
- a flash drive with at least 5GB of storage
- at least 20 zip ties are the final items needed to assemble a mining rig.
Additionally, we need software components, including mining programs like CGMiner , Kryptex Miner
or EasyMiner an operating system (like MinerOS or Rave ), and a cryptocurrency wallet to hold the extracted cryptocurrency.
Primary steps in constructing a mining rig
It’s time to begin assembling the parts once they have all been gathered:
1) Assemble the frame.
Future mining rigs will be supported by their frames, therefore they must be strong and assembled correctly.
2) Connect the motherboard and the processor.
Use the designated pins to carefully connect the CPU to the motherboard.
3) Install RAM
Separate the side brackets and insert the RAM module into the motherboard’s RAM slot.
4) Attach the motherboard to the framework.
Attach the motherboard to the mining rig frame once it has been fitted with the processor and RAM.
5) Connect the SSD.
Position the SSD precisely and fasten it to the mining equipment frame.
6) Install the PSU
Connect the PSU to the motherboard near the processor by mounting it to the mining rig’s frame.
7) Connect USB risers
To connect the GPUs, insert USB risers into the motherboard’s respective PCI slots.
8) Connect GPUs
The PCI-e 6+2 power connectors and USB risers must be plugged in before the crypto mining machine is finished being put together.
