Cardano Protocol Upgrade to V8 Brings Enhanced Security and Interoperability in Cross-Chain DApp Development
Cardano, the proof-of-stake blockchain platform, is set to upgrade its pre-production environment to protocol V8 on Saturday, February 11th at 00:00 UTC. This update, submitted by Input Output and the Cardano Foundation, represents a significant step towards greater interoperability and security in cross-chain decentralized application (DApp) development with Plutus.
The Cardano Protocol Upgrade to V8 will bring new cryptographic primitives to the platform, encouraging secure cross-chain DApp development and improved interoperability with Plutus. With the mainnet upgrade scheduled for February 14th, new built-in functions will be added to Plutus, making it easier for developers to work with other blockchains and providing the highest level of security for cross-chain applications through the support of signatures such as ECDSA and Schnorr.
Preparations for the eagerly anticipated upgrade have been ongoing, with positive results from integration testing. Over 80% of block-producing nodes are already running the required new node, and exchanges and DApp developers have been notified to ensure compatibility.
